9a testing hypotheses

Who: people who already have a clear plan for their children that they have either mapped out themselves or helped their child map out. Also more well off people who aren't worried about the cost of their Childs education as much as middle class and poor people are. I think the third and final category are people who can't afford to spend money on their child's extracurricular activities when there are other free options such as sports and the like. Although my pitch is for a non-profit we would still to charge parents to cover payroll and promotional events. Becuase we aren't looking for profit our prices wouldn't be too high, but free definitely beats it. What: My opportunity probably doesn't extend to parents looking for advanced internships for their children. It also may not extent to parents who aren't sending their children to college Why: The underlying need may be different depending on the parent. They could have the same need but possibly a di...

My solution to the problem I presented in 7A would be to offer a program to high schoolers that gave them opportunities to do volunteer work related to fields they want to pursue. Not only does this help with getting volunteering hours the students need, but it also gives them an enriching experience of helping others and insight into how much they might like their future careers. For example, I could take teens who want to do IT and have them teach young kids how to use a computer. I haven't worked out all the kinks of this solution yet, but I think it can be a success if I understand more how I want it to be run.

Opportunity: Parents need a way for their children to figure out what they want to do/give them experience said area, because otherwise lots of their money is wasted on unnecessary years of schooling. Parents also need a way for their students to gain volunteering hours for them to graduate from highschool. Hypothesis: All parents somewhat share this need. It’s a part of every child's growth into adulthood.Wealthy parents may not care though, because they can afford to get their child as much help as they need to decide what it is they want to do. Young teens of course also have this problem. The problem can often lead to wasted time and more student debt for the teens. However, teens can’t be a great market for this because they often don't recognize the need or don’t have the money or will to do much about it. All students need experience outside of school regardless of community service hours, but it might be crucial to note that not all school districts may have tha...

1.A/BI found this info from NYC.gov. It explains that New York has issued a styrofoam ban for one use containers https://www1.nyc.gov/assets/dsny/site/resources/recycling-and-garbage-laws/collection-setout-laws-for-business/foam-ban C. My Target customer would most likely be restaurant business who use styrofoam containers for take out food. I would probably more specifically target family owned restaurants. D. I believe it would be easy to Target family businesses who are always looking for a deal. Especially because their supplier of styrofoam containers would be gone. 2. A/B this is a Washington Post article explaining Trump's ban of flavored Vapes.  https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/health/the-vaping-industry-has-close-ties-to-trump-his-ban-still-caught-them-off-guard/2019/09/17/0423c994-d8c0-11e9-ac63-3016711543fe_story.html%3foutputType=amp C. My customers could be people that just lost the ability to buy flavored Vapes. With such a strong demand...

4a Problem Solution

My belief is that there is alot of money being wasted on teenagers who don't know exactly what they want to do with their lives. Many 17/18 year olds go into college because their teachers and parents believe it is what they need to succeed. However, many of these teens waist alot of time and money in college just try to my to figure out what their interests are. College becomes even more expensive that regular when you take a bunch of classes you later don't need. Not only does this add onto your total amount of semesters, but usually after a certain number of credits the price of tuition sky rockets. My ideal customer isn't the student, but rather the parent of a student who knows that their child is indecisive and prone to waste lots of time figuring out what it is they want to do. Usually most parents begrudgingly accept this, as it is seen that college is the best place to figure out what it is you what to do. My solution to their problem would be to offer a summe...

5A News Post Opportunity

The article below "Students and activists make posters ahead of blue light protest on Fraternity Row" there are  protest   held about blue lights that aid women who are in dangerous situations, usually to protect themselves from a predator. The opportunity I see here is more about the protest itself than anything else. The article mentions that much more people came than exspected. The opportunity I see is selling low cost gear, necessary for protesting, in bulk to official and unofficial student run orgs on both UF and Santa Fe campuses. There are tons of student orgs that will hold plenty of events this each year with fundraised and/or UF money that will need custom shirts, stickers, signs, ect. In my experience while interning for a politition, printouts, shirts, banners and ect. can be really important for spreading the world for important issues. Especially informational stuff like panflicts and other handouts. https://www.alligator.org/news/students-and-activis...

3A Candy Business

Image
11th Grade Candy Business  In 11 th  grade I was inspired to sell candy in my school by a friend who sold hot chips in school. The vending machine often didn’t have hot chips or candy bars so we took advantage of the demand for those products in school. I would go to Sams club to buy the chocolate in bulk and make a 40-50% profit selling each bar for a dollar each. My main problem was finding good deals on preferred candies and keeping the chocolate from melting. I bought an ice pack to keep the chocolate from melting but meeting the specific demands for certain chocolates was always a problem. Often the boxes had multiple kinds of chocolate and some where more desired than others. There would  be some competition, but despite being a small school it never really hindered my ability to sell.
