5A News Post Opportunity

• The article below "Students and activists make posters ahead of blue light protest on Fraternity Row" there are  protest held about blue lights that aid women who are in dangerous situations, usually to protect themselves from a predator. The opportunity I see here is more about the protest itself than anything else. The article mentions that much more people came than exspected. The opportunity I see is selling low cost gear, necessary for protesting, in bulk to official and unofficial student run orgs on both UF and Santa Fe campuses. There are tons of student orgs that will hold plenty of events this each year with fundraised and/or UF money that will need custom shirts, stickers, signs, ect. In my experience while interning for a politition, printouts, shirts, banners and ect. can be really important for spreading the world for important issues. Especially informational stuff like panflicts and other handouts.

• This article below, "Gainesville City Commission votes to increase utility rates, property", talks about th City commissions decision to raise utility rates and property taxes. Thai decision, if it goes through, will hurt owners of expensive  properties because bit will decrease their already small market. Owners of other apartments may hurt aswell but while they lose customers they will also gain them from people moving out of exspensive places. I think the most lucrative opportunity here is to take advantage of the fact that more and more businesses will be opting to rent rather than buy real estate. You still have to deal with property tax, but you can make alot more money off businesses than people.

• This article below, "County commission repeals plastic ban ordinance", explains that the plastic ban in Gainsville is in danger of being repealed. Despite what you think of the bill, if it dies get revoked there will be a renewed demand for plastic bags/containers by big and small businesses looking for the cheapest options. Thus, prepairing early to sell plastic items to these Gainsville companies could be lucrative

• This article below,"One medical marijuana dispensary in Gainesville is looking to expand", shows the success medical marijuana dispensaries are having by by explaining that Knox Medical (the first dispensary to open in Gainesville) is looking to open a second location. Since one of the preferred methods of inhaling marijuana are vape pens, it would be a good opportunity to open a smoke shop near the second location of the dispensary.

• The article below, "UF band director attacked at UF vs. MIA game", explains that during the Gators vs, Hurricane matchup last month the UF band director was assaulted by MIA fans. This situation displays that the security at these games aren't as tight as most would like them to be. This leaves an opportunity for a private security firm to offer assistance to UF, and maybe even multiple colleges in the South who dont want such bad publicity.
