I asked my mother to put me in contact with the person that runs a non for profit story competition that we go too every year. She was happy to answer any questions I had. I contacted her because one of her annual competition is between teenagers. So I figured her ability to get parents to pay for their kids to enter such a competition while being a non profit was somewhere in my domain. The woman herself is a theater lover who enjoys story telling. She is based out of Miami by the way. She works hard to get grants for her operation, and find great venues to hold competitions where she also tries to raise money for the organization. She does this through food and ticket selling. She's also teams up with cultural organizations before to help with certain themed story events.
Market expert
This woman was a former figure in the Miami Dade County School board. She actually visited my highschool once in 10th grade and gave a speech at my graduation. I also happened to be involved in a non-profit event she hosted for domestic abuse victims in a mdc school. I never got the chance to reach out to her personally till now though. She would also be a great contact given that she has direct experience with the school board.
My project is a non-profit so I don't really have a market supplier.

ReplyDeleteI really like how you tailored the post to your specific opportunity and recognized that you do not have a market supplier as your idea is for a non-profit organization. I agree that with the qualifications of the people that you reached out to, that they could help you a lot in furthering your goal and starting your non-profit. I also feel that they would be excellent to help recruit and help that you may need in starting your business and would be able to give excellent feedback once your business is up and running.

ReplyDeleteI think it is important to have a social capital with every business. I'm glad you found people who are related to your business idea. I think a market supplier for you can be schools that can help spread the word about your business. It can be anyone who can help you get your business out to other people.
